Koreisha Senior Care & Advocacy is requesting all members and supporters to attend the 2019 Day of Remembrance on Saturday, February 16 from 2:00 – 4:00 pm, at the Japanese American National Museum (JANM) in Little Tokyo.
KSCA will have a table at this event. Literature and surveys will be available for KSCA members/supporters to distribute. Please arrive at 1:30 pm to set-up, distribute literature, and gather survey responses. Be sure to wear your red KSCA button!
The DOR commemorates the February 19, 1942 signing of Executive Order 9066 by Franklin D. Roosevelt. EO 9066 enabled the U.S. government to imprison 120,00 persons of Japanese ancestry into American concentration camps. The legacy of winning redress means that injustice to any group must be opposed. This year’s DOR theme is Behind Barbed Wire: Keeping Children Safe and Families Together. Nikkei for Civil Rights and Redress (NCRR) has been a sponsor of DOR for over 20 years.
This program will be emceed by Carrie Morita, a strong KSCA supporter.
The sponsoring organizations are NCRR, JACL-Pacific Southwest District, Go For Broke Education Center, Japanese American Cultural and Community Center, Japanese American National Museum, Manzanar Committee, Kizuna, Nikkei Progressives, Progressive Asian Network for Action, and Organization of Chinese Americans/Greater Los Angeles.
